It has been my expierience, as wel as my fiancees, that as long as you call them and try to make a reasonable offer as to what you can honestly pay each month, they should accept that. DO NOT LET IT GO THE COLLECTION AGENCY. When that happens, there is really nothing you can do. Except pay. They can report you to the credit agencies as well. So, if I were you, I would get right on that telephone, ask to speak to the billing department, describe your situation, and try to figure out a sum that you can afford, either each week or by the month. You must be honest with yourself, because if you cannot make the payment that week, or month, the hospital can say you "defaluted" and turn your case over to the collection agency. That is the worst. Trust me, you DO NOT want that to occur.
