Cross Country Bank

I have a Cross Country Bank card and so does my husband. Unfortunately, we are over-extended and had to choose SOMETHING to not pay, and Cross Country was it. We haven't paid a dime since November 2002. They call me at work AT LEAST 3 times a day, even on weekends (my home phone is unlisted, so luckily, they don't have that yet). I have never once answered the phone or talked to them, but they persist on leaving the same message day after day. I would assume that after this many months with no payment, they would have charged it off. Would I know about if they did? I've been expecting to eventually be contacted by a CA anytime, but never have been. Does anyone that has dealt with Cross Country know their strategy and what I can expect. The two cards together total less than $2,000. Over half of that is late fees. I'm in Indiana. Thank you!
