1 - STOP TALKING TO THEM ON THE PHONE !!!
It is pointless to talk to these dirtbags, it only wastes your time and causes aggravation. Do NOT pick up the phone when they call ! The ONLY thing you need to do is get an address so you can mail them a validation letter.. and maybe a cease and desist that limits their contact with you to MAIL ONLY.

An account 3+ years old no longer has any connection with Providian.. trust me.. they washed their hands of it long ago.

As for their 'paperwork' .. its a BS threat, ignore it ! They CANNOT just 'get a judgment' against you. They have to file a lawsuit, have you served a summons, get to court, and then MAYBE they win a default judgment.. maybe they don't. All this takes time too, it will NOT happen over night and you WILL know about it.

Not a CA ?? Thats a joke and a half !! They most definitely ARE a CA ! Gee.. they lied.. suprise, surprise. As a CA they MUST adhere to the FDCPA.

Even though you're within the SOL, I'd still suggest validation.
