National Check Control behaves in the manner of most perps. Yes, you can find books about their ilk all well researched and profound and when stacked cover to cover, why they'd reach Saturn.
Best to keep things simple however. They do the things they do because they are perps, period. Pay them nothing, tell them nothing, as you put it they can turn a left handed thread into a right handed nut.
Remember those fun, really neat-o guys in the gangster films? You see 'em in the collection agency men's room/office suites as well as maximum security sections of our fine state hotels.
You know, the guys with 'love' tatooed accross one set of fingers and 'hate' accross the others? Ever ask 'em why they do that? They just stare vacantly by way of reply. It's just something they do, as the experts say.
Just like National Check Control, they do stuff. But what they do is repetitive, dull, predatory just like most criminal behavior. And they really don't need anything from us to reward their anti-social conduct. Best keep our money in our own pockets, as theirs are filled with blood.

Anti-socially yours,

Keyser Soze

A Mother's Day thought, with apologies to
"White Heat, c. 1951, with Jimmy Cagney:

"You've got a choice Cody, it's me, your
old Ma, or that girl."

Wanna bet most collection agency tough guys have a "Ma" somewhere? probably in the closet waiting for them to come home from 'work' at the CA.
