First thing to remember is that they cannot charge that amount. It is illegal. The second is by hanging up they are not affording you the 30 day dispute period. that is illegal. By not provide info they are forgoing the validation process. that is illegal. By threatening jailtime they are violating the fdcpa. That is illegal. Immediately complain to the ftc and the bbb. Also, and this is very important, complain to the new jersey attorney general. They are already under investigation with them. All info will help bring them down.
