You came here for advice- we gave it- If you want to "settle" with a CA on a past SOL debt, you will get NO ONE here who will tell you it is a good idea. It will not increase your score, it will not remove the account from your report, it will not do anything except CEMENT the account to your report as a PAID collection, (no MATTER what the "agreement" says) and once settled ,you cannot dispute it, you yourself would have validated it.

In addition, once your report shows you have been sucker enough to be blackmailed into paying ONE out of SOL account, all the bottom feeders will crawl out and insert MORE old, re-aged accounts on your report.

They will dredge up overdue video store, library book, parking tickets, 5th grade cookie sale receipt shortages, accounts of people with a similar name, accounts of people you might have co-signed with 20 years ago,and even (and this is a favorite) competely BOGUS accounts.

You are looking for 10 points + ?

You will wind up at your closing down 50 or 60 points and have to pay out $$$$ in blackmail to close.
