OK- someone paid your property taxes for you for 3 years?
Or paid it once 3 years ago?

In either case, were the taxes paid twice? Once by you and a duplicate payment by someone in error?

If you benefited from the error, and had no cost or expense involved in clearing it up, then you owe the $$ back to them, they cannot claim added interest if you can prove you tried to correct it.

There is no SOL on refunding $$ you received in error.
