The float on your check just disappeared. Amex started this in Feb. When they receieve the check, instead of submitting it to their bank and it meandering about the Federal Reserve System for a few days, they'll take the routing # off the bottom of your check {included in the account number} and electronically debit the account. Make sure you have good funds in the account.
