Garnishment

My girlfriend owes back child support and doesnt mind paying, but she had a bad knee injury and she wasnt able to work, she is about to get a settlement from the injury and disiblity pay, they placed a lien on her back disablity, does this mean that while she is currently working they wont take out the child support since they currently have a lien on her disablitly?
