If Emory Healthcare is the original creditor they may be allowed to state that which they do. This is an all too familiar tale of late. You accept treatment and pay your share, then the hospital bills you for additional costs. Their in-house or right-close-by collection agency starts with the harassment. A similar story here in Florida, welcome yet another exciting and innovative development of the New Predatory Capitalism.
Dispute everything they say, eventually they may tire out and go on to the next hit. Make sure to write them up to your State AG, BBB, and all agencies at state and federal levels which oversee and certify these greedy-gut slobs. After all, they take federal and state funds, that puts them under some sort of oversight. The agencies might not be able to directly intervene, but perhaps the wind might be taken out of the sails of these larcenous swine.
Always good idea to get an opinion on malpractice committed by these money grubbers. Hospitals are rife with sepsis these days, any signs of sepsis related illness following hospital discharge?

Sad and true, we are in a cannibalistic society thanks to the nineties' mentality and its wide acceptance. Calls for stringent countermeasures. Use military tactics to stanch these bloodletters.

Stringently,

Keyser Soze
