Just found out RMA is holding an account for Sprint for hubby's old cell phone. Balance is 1400. In his last contact, he told Sprint he was paying for his legitimate charges, but not the 1400. He paid 400 of the bill. In the process of making payments on the 400, they sent it to collections anyways. This happened in 2001. Last year, in checking his cr when we were buying a home, it was listed on there. Then some months later, it was gone. Yesterday, RMA did a hard inq...my guess to try to reinsert it or to attempt collection. He had some probs with the equipment and kept racking up roaming fees...after he switched phones, it still kept happening. Sprint says its because he didnt have his phone set right...they are the ones who set it up. I called and spoke with Sprint this morning...their notes say it was the customers fault for not setting the phone properly. Hubby refuses to pay this collection because it was their fault. Wondering if there is any type of recourse...can Sprint get in trouble for deceptive practices? It is a longshot, but I am the one who has to explain to him that Sprint says its his fault. He has a serious dispute with the bill, but it looks like he will still end up having to pay the full amount. Any ideas on what to do? I am thinking ahead...if they decide to sue, I would LIKE to have a countersuit ready. Yeah, okay...too much coffee.... Thanks, nc
