7 years but call all 3 credit reporting agency's and dispute it and it will be off in 30 days. I think you might actually have to order your credit report from all three burea's first to have a reference # before you can dispute it. I did. Amex will have it purged off their system by then and only have a record of it being paid and it will come off. I just had to do the exact same thing from something back in 1997. Now my credit is perfect for the first time in my life. Really great and rewarding feeling. You'll feel it soon don't worry.
