Didn't mean to start an argument. My answer was based more on the moral issue stated in the original post.

"I'm about to get married and start a whole new life."

I am aware of the SOL and would have recommended that if I felt it appropriate. The sense I got from the poster was that he owed the debt and wanted to make a reasonal settlement of the issue rather than use a legal method to avoid payment.

The other thought was that my recommendation is probably the easiest and fastest way to put this issue behind him and move on since we are not talking about a huge debt amount.
