First, the 'tainting' you are referring to is called Poisoning.. and yes, its illegal under the FCRA. Who are the CA(s) that have it listed twice ? Are you 100% certain its the same debt ? If so, you CAN do something about it as long as you can prove its the same account and the CA is deliberately poisoning your file.

The 30-day limit for them to produce validation isn't a hard and fast rule.. its a guideline, so if they produce something in 45 days, its valid.. provided what they send is PROPER validation.
