The CA who purchased the debt has the burden of validation. WhyChat has a DV letter on his site that is worded well. CAs use affiliated firms to report and collect. I'll call them aliases. For instance Sherman Acq. also operates under the names OSI, Northland Group, Allied, Gulf State, etc. I have a Collection account on my CRs from Sherman but have been only contacted by Northland. They do that so they can pass on an uncollectable account (maybe after C&D letter was received) to one of their aliases to continue collection. It's deceptive and it exhausts all resources before they sell it off to another.
