YIKES! I'm a debt buyer and that is friggin scary! Your doing all the right things. It's the companys fault not yours. You need to send a certified letter to the new company outlining everything with a copy of your release from Gulf States. Makes sure you have a release letter from them not just a settlement letter. Then you need to state in the letter that you even getting corraspondence from them on this account is harassment & illegal and if they don't scrap the account and stop the buck with them you will file an attorney general complaint and retain a lawyer. Also call the agency that had it before this one. If you don't notify both companys what will happen is Allied will get a refund from Northland for the bad account and Northland will sell it again. It will be a never ending cycle. My company just puts it in a dead file and never mess's with it again to avoid things like this from happening. You might have to send letters to Gulfstate to.
