CA or OC?

Sorry for the double post today. Just was wondering what is better here. Is it better to work with the CA trying to collect a very recent closed credit card account, or send a ceast and desist and work with the OC on paying off the balance? Will OC's usually work with you once an account is closed for:
1. Lower amount than debt.
2. Remove negative listings from your Credit Reports. I have 2 accounts just sent to collections on recently closed credit card accounts. OC's are Capital 1 and Providian
CA's are NCO Financial Systems and Simm Associates. Thanks!
