Most States exempt settlements for injuries from BK and judgments, HOWEVER, the LESS your creditors know about your "future" prospects -the better.

Also, it sometimes takes a LOT longer for a settlement foe an auto accident to actually be "settled" than you think. If you have a GOOD personal injury lawyer, they will wait to make sure that ALL your injuries are properly diagnosed and treated, as many severe problems do not even BEGIN to show up for a year or more AFTER the accident.

Do not let the threats or even judgments from CA's force you into a premature settlement for less than you actually are entitled to.
