Well over a year ago I was suddenly hounded out of the blue by some outfit in the Dakotas (called "The Credit Store" I think) for an ancient credit card debt of mine they had "purchased". I probably got six monthly notices from them, all of which I trashed, and they now seem to have dried up with their mailings. Lately I have had my mail box darkened by sCAMCO for a (different) ancient debt from the same dark period of my life. I am so far inclined to just toss them also, but working hard as I am to restablish myself I don't want to put anything at any risk.

If I exend my state's SOL for filing of suits and judgement collection time to the max I am probably potentially still liable IF there indeed ever was a judgement rendered, but my current Equifax credit report indicates no judgements against me in the public record. Should I be able to take this as completely reliable info? I seem to have read it is possible to have had a judgement against you without ever having received any summons or notice thereof, but I would think such a thing would surely show on one's credit report at the very least. sCAMCO's form letter offers to "furnish me copies of the debt and / or judgements" they may have but I am loathe to open ANY dialogue with these scumbags.
