The collection bureaus have ordered a credit report on you to see if you are in a period now that can be assessed as a good chance to harass you into paying to keep you credit standing. If any of these debts are over 7 years all they can do is call and mail out letters. The one sure indication that your credit is in good standing now, is the attempts to slander it by old Statute of Limitation debts from 10 or more years ago. These people prey on your state of mind by hoping you have no idea of your rights. The original creditor has charged you off and wrote you off in their P and L statement so your debt is sold to a third party, who paid nearly nothing for it and expects to collect based on most consumers lack of knowledge about credit practices in general, collection laws and you rights as a consumer.A well informed consumer base would put a stop to that type of extorsion.
