What do they say when you call up and ask to settle? If they refuse to help you resolve your account yet still claim the account as their account or claim they are a agency for their client then they are breaking the law. If they have a client in this case the client still owns the account and they are employed by the agency then call the client and tell them your trying to pay but they refuse to deal with you. If they own the account and still refuse to settle but are still keeping the account open as non-paid you need to get an attorney. I'm serious. They are purposely trying to screw your life up. You can't still have an account in an agency as open and refuse to let someone pay. I own a collection agency so I know. That makes my blood boil. Get a credit attorney to take up this case if this is what is going on. Don't take this lying down.
