This is what you do. Go to creditnet.com and sign up for free. Then go to the sample letters part and get what is called a validation letter. However, do not expect this to be done overnight. A validation letter makes them prove the debt is yours. If they cannot do it they cannot collect on the debt and will have to remove it. You will need to send this letter certified so you have proof it was received. The moment you know it was received you need to dispute with the credit agencies that the debt is not yours. IF credigy verifies the debt during validation without responding to the validation they have violated your rights. If they do not mark the debt in dispute they have violated your rights. They must prove it is yours i.e. your signature or something showing you ran up the bill. You may also have to file a fraud report with certegy which is your right.
