Well I have spent the last 5 hours retrieving and disputing my credit reports with Experian and TransUnion online. I didnt get a chance yet to call Equifax. It's amazing how off the Experian information is. According to them I have a TX drivers license that I have never heard of, two additional SSNs that dont even remotely look like my real SSN. Two employers from which I have never received a paycheck. Three telephone numbers that I have never had. And 12 new addresses -- some in cities and states that I have never visited much less lived in. What a nightmare -- I disputed at least 10-15 suspicious accts. So, I know that the Credit Bureaus have to honor my investigation inquiry, but how likely is it that I'll be able to actually clean up this delinquency record? I suppose it's not too bad as my credit rating from Equifax is still "good" even with all this mess on there. And, since I have initiated all this stuff this evening, does that mean that the CB's will contact the credit agency (ie Asset Allocation) and call off the hounds? Lastly, since I am a bit PO'ed that my credit has been hijacked, if I ever find out the culprit (like perhaps the lovely couple who thinks they live at my house), can I prosecute or anything? I'm not trying to be litigious, but people who purposefully do this type of thing should be punished for the harm that they do (IMHO).
