Letter from Portfolio Recovery

I received a letter from Portfolio stating as following "Our investigation has verified that you are employed at my job." After that line they then state my debt etc... Why are they stating that they know where I work? Is this a scare tactic? I mailed them two validation letters in which I have not received anything back and now they send me this letter. Can anyone give me any advice on how to handle this matter?
My original debt is with MBNA.
