You said it is from October 2002 and they are making an offer this low already? Usually an offer that low is not made until way later or until suit is going to be filed against you. I would take the offer in heartbeat. That's about a 42% settlement. Usually when it's with the original creditor and the account has been charged off for under a year the best offer you will get is 65% - 75%. That's excellent. Take the offer. You can't get any better than that. It also sounds the like the orginal creditor is trying to be reasonable by allowing the agency to offer you a settlement that low. That's very good.
