I, too, live in CA and have been the receiver of an Eskanos & Adler judgement.

Like your case, I have tried for over 2 years to settle this with a payment arrangement. They forced it into court and the judge ruled in their favor...because I could not pay them a lump sum they levied my bank account. The account was closed due to the action, and I have been unable to open one since (a year ago). The monies in the account were from wages and created havoc as I had written checks against the entire amount to the IRS for a debt they are owed. Because of the Eskanos action, I was levied by the IRS for non-payment and bad checks. The IRS has willingly worked out the situation.

Additionally, they would not return my calls or my attorney's calls. To this day, the judgment continues to add up, my attorney has now died (a young man, suddenly three weeks ago) and I am left to continue being pursued and hounded by this organization who refuses to settle for less than a lump sum and will not acknowledge the partial payment received via the aforementioned action.

What recourse do we have?

If they garnish my wages, I will be forced into a homeless shelter as I am barely able to live on what I am presently making.

Attornies will not take the case for legal advice because I cannot declare bankruptcy (too little debt) and I presently have no collateral (I rent and use public transportation since I have no car.)

I live in fear of being rendered homeless by these people (I have already gone through periods of food subsidy because of this debt action) and Sheriff's people breaking into my house and selling my personal belongings off in a rumage like sale.

It has already affected my job situation, as I am unable to finance a car, so I am only able to be hired by employers who are not bothered by the Los Angeles Transportation System.

HELP??!?
