Remove Negative Reports

I got in trouble many years ago with credit cards approximate debt was 20,000+. Down through the years I have made settlement offers, paid some completely off. and now only have a balance of approximately 3,000. I have not been late or missed a payment in about 7 or 8 years. I went through Consumer Credit Counseling, plus I contacted most of the creditor myself and settle the debt or paid it in full. Yet I have bad credit because they report it as; delinquent,settle,chargeoff etc.. and I cannot get this removed it has been this way for many years. I still have some excellent payment history with some of my creditor today but the overall is negative. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the negative statements?
