A few years ago we had really bad credit. We decided to rent the top half of a nice home for what turned out to be cheaper than an apartment. They did not do a credit check. I would search for rental homes or duplexes. I found in my search that they rarely did credit checks because it does cost them money. My landlords lived downstairs so it was not like they had far to find me. I was quite happy and had much more space than an apartment. I would go ahead and list the debts, the collection agency, the date and who knows what will happen. It took me a year to clean up the credit reports from non legit and legit(wink) debts. I now own a home.
