I received a call (3 actually) from JBC Associates, Attorneys at Law. They said I wrote 3 checks to a business in 1993 totaling $200 that were returned by my bank. In their first call they left message with my husband that they would be having the sheriffs office serve me that day. 4 weeks later a woman called and said since i'd waived my legal rights they would file 3 counts of theft against me..did i have an attorney or wish to make a statement. when i asked her for her name and JBC's address she said I should have that info. I asked a 2nd time ..she hung up. Are they really a scam or do I need to contact somebody to clear this up?
