Go to your states home page and find the attorney general office. They should have information about collecting on bad checks.

In Florida, you need to send a written notice to the check writer telling him/her the check was not honored. Send it certified mail, return receipt requested.

Give them seven days to make the check good and make sure to charge them a fee.

If you are in Florida, you can forward the bad check to the State Attorney's office after 7 days.

Do not wait..the longer this debt is outstanding, the less likely that you will collect.

Since the account was closed, you are dealing with fraud.
