Magazine companies,unbreakable contracts

Does anyone know if an unsigned contract is "unbreakable "? Magazine company supposedly sent out information packet,never received it.Had 10 days to cancel service. Now they say no matter what I do the contract is unbreakable,cannot cancel even though their end was not held up.They say the packet was mailed,naturally.If I I had sent payment and it never arrived they would blame me. They are sending out another info packet without the option to cancel. They say magazines are already paid for by them.Don't want these magazines now,Never had the option to cancel.Never dealt with this before.Have good credit now,don't want another 7 years bad luck. What would you do ?Lawyers not interested until something serious happens.What can I do on my own ?
