Scott thanks for the information. Just two more quick questions...what is a time barred debt? Does this mean its been so long since I wrote these checks that they can't collect on them?

I believe these checks may actually have been returned by my bank--should I just call the headquarters for the store that I presented them to to make good on them? I'm not a criminial..at least not intentionally. If I owe them money, I'm willing to pay. I just don't want to be threatened and I really don't want JBC to make one penny off of me and my willingness to pay up.
