Validation still works to dispute the debt, but, as you say, if its not on your credit report what's that help. Just because they haven't reported to date, doesn't mean they won't, or that the next CA won't.

Getting charge-offs removed by an OC is a tougher task. The folks over at creditboards.com may be better able to answer that question.
