The scumbags who are calling you with this phony baloney offer are nothing but thugs who play a numbers game. You don't need to play it with them. On this website you'll find Cease and Desist (C&D) letters. Send one to these wastrels, instructing them to cease all phone calls and communicate by mail only.
Like the zit-faced, geeky, insecure, hollow-chested inadequate little potential peeping tom who walks the street asking every woman he encounters if she'd like to spend the night with him in hope of getting lucky on the thousandth try, these creeps spend their pointless, putrid, misspent days calling one person after another after another in hope of getting one or two people to pay them what they ask.
If you take their cockeyed offer, they will in fact sell the supposedly 'forgiven' amount of your debt to some other colonic-parasite collector who will start bothering you all over again.
Pay these cretins nothing. It is actually worse as far as your credit report goes to settle or pay completely some dirtbag collector than it is to simply ignore their demands.
They will call and call and break every rule in the book as far as how many times daily, and what time of day safe in the knowledge that so many people are unaware of their own rights and in fact the rules by which these criminals are supposed to conduct themselves.
You can gain great knowledge from this website regarding all applicable rules at both the federal and your state levels.
Send your C&D letter certified, return receipt mail. Then, when they deny any knowledge of your letter, you have them in yet another violation.
Theirs is a miserable lot, let's help them by giving them some credit for their wretched conduct. Let's write nice letters to the FTC, the BBB, and your State AG detailing the kindnesses they've bestowed upon you. Perhaps reversal of fortune will yet find them. A lovely thought by which to retire for the night, in my case, a night spent hanging upside-down, twirling from my pickle-finish wooden vault ceiling. Bona Nox!

Hangingly,
