The way I understand it is...
If they are past the SOL for collection. Send a letter to the Collection Agency CRRR then when you get the green card back, dispute them with the Credit Bureau. Chances are, if the debt is old enough and they know they cannot legally collect they will most likely not respond to your request and they cannot legally respond to the CRA until they verify with you because that would be collection activity which would be wrong on so many levels.
