I just read the followng on credtboards.
DHHS sent out a memo last week to all health care providers, insurers, etc saying that information CREATED before April 14th was not covered under HIPAA because that would be too intensive for the health care industry and there is no way they would/could comply. The law only protects health information created on/after the 14th - it isnt retroactive to cover preceding information. So, if you went to the doctor on April 13th - that information isnt covered. If you went on April 14th, it would be. Now I'm totally confused. So here is my question. I follow your HIPPA directions exactly. (Insert A) The Health Care Provider cashed the certified check. The CRA updates the info, and adds a new account number. And on one report I have two tradlines from the CA. Needless to say I'm a little worse off now than when I started. I sent the follow up letter and they have yet to sign for it. So my next step is to dispute it with the CRA's(is that correct?). Can you PLEASE clarify this for me?
