RE: CONTINUANCE

If you wish to get a continuance, you need to file a motion at least 7-10 days prior to the court date.

This might be a good move for you for two reasons:

First, gives you more time to assemble your paperwork and learn how to deal with this and

Two, collection/debt lawyers typically schedule 20-30 cases at a time. Most don't show up so they win by default. It is a numbers game with them.

So, if you get a continuance, now they have to show up just for you. Guess what, if they don't show, ask to have the case dismissed.

If you need some help with the motion for continuance please advise and I will email you an example.
