There's also the issue of 'separate property/debt'. If these were her accounts before you were married and she has not used them since you've been married, then they would still be considered separate, even in a community property state. If she used them after the marriage, then they could, conceivably, be considered as part of the 'community'. How this is handled is in your State statutes.
