Well, my daughter comes here often and she convinced me to give this a shot. I am 49 years old and live in North Carolina. I lost my job due to the plant closing about 4 months ago and my wife left me high and dry about 6 months ago. I now have another job but the pay is half of what I was making. I went to a lawyer about filing bankruptcy but was told it was not a good idea because my name was on the deed to my mother's land and the he said she could lose it. So, I took my name off the deed and was planning on waiting the twelve months so I could file. However, the two mortgages, the one credit card, and the one Lowe's card has gotten too much for me to handle. I let my wife's car go back. Up until now, I have had perfect credit with not even one late payment. Now I have people calling me left and right trying to get me to pay the remainder of the car. I have called the mortgage companies and told them I plan to file bankruptcy next year and asked them if they could work with me until then to get my payments down but they won't budge. My nerves are so bad, I've had to be put on medication. Any advice or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated because I am very close to the edge!
