I am sorry to hear of your problems, unfortuntely you are not alone in your troubles.

Your lawyer may have been correct about the real estate -and I hope you were able to properly transfer ownership to someone, (like your daughter) who will value your sacrifices.

First, sit down and write down all of your REAL assets, family, health, job (even if it pays less),a sound mind and the ability to communicate and find solutions to your problems.

Next, figure out which bills you have that MUST be paid, mortgage,(unless you feel it is better to sell and move to somewhere that would be easier for you to maintain) utilities, insurance food etc.

You say you had to let your wife's car get repossessed, were you given ALL the documentation on the repo?- full notification of the resale with a complete ccounting of the deficiency?

What about YOUR car?

Next, take Kelly's suggestion,do not answer the phone, get an answering machine and only pickup when you WANT to talk to someone.

Your creditors WILL NOT "work" with you, it is NOT in their interest to do so.

The WORST that can happen, on the defaulted bills like credit cards, and the Lowes account, is that it will go to 3rd party collection agents, or possibly you could be sued.

If you did get sued, and they DID get a judgment against you the fact that you transferred the title to your property puts it out of reach of any possible lien that could put on it, and most likely you have no other attachble assets.

In addition, I think your State does not allow wage garnishment.

So, in short, take a deep breath, count your blessings, take a few hours of your week to go and volunteer at a homeless shelter, or soup kitchen, or animal rescue facility, and understand that life isn't "fair" but it IS manageable.

As to your ex wife,(you are divorced?) sometimes the worst of times brings out the worst in some people, and sometimes it brings out the best, we can choose for ourselves which it will be.
