Alot of cc companies have hardship programs. I would simply call citibank and ask to speak to someone in that department. Most of the time they can cut out interest and fees for a few months and cut down payments. Usually you have to have had your card for 6 months to a year but if you have 20k I would assume you have had these cards for awhile. Be honest and tell them you are doing your best not to renig on the cards and see if they can help for 2-3 months while you get back on your feet. Just state a job loss was part of it. It never hurts to ask
