So I talked to them this morning.

The woman I spoke to actually claimed that because they aren't a collection agency they don't have to adhere to the FDCPA. She said that they were only calling out of consideration, and that they were a law office.

I asked if she was attempting to collect a debt and she said yes. I asked if she was a lawyer and she said no.

I told her that she had to validate the debt within 5 days and she said she did not, since she isn't a debt collector.

After telling her that I already knew who JBC was and how they operate, and that I knew about the various class action suits, she didn't seem to want to talk much.

She claimed that they looked at the signature I used to open the account, and the signatures on the checks, and that they were a perfect match. I already have photocopies of the checks though, and the signature is not a perfect match for anything I would ever write. What she is saying is impossible.

Basically, she did not give me any way to remedy the situation, and we ended up hanging up. She claimed they were going to pursue all legal remedies.

Now what? Should I call back and try to talk to someone else?
