Although it's not easy starting over, I did claim chapter 7 a few years ago. I was able to get most of my debt waived and kept some of it. This is completely legal. It hasn't been 7 years yet and I already have credit cards and a new car lease. You migt have higher interest rates but you will get credit again before the 7 years are over. It was a big relief to do it. You should contact a lawyer to discuss your options. Lots of people do it when they have no other option. Hope this helps...
