Especially in your State of Ca. where it has been ruled that ANY collection activity on a time-barred account is ILLEGAL, you should send ONLY the SOL letter. Make sure you include not only the Ca. Statute for the SOL, but also the statutes under the Ca FDCPA,and the statutes on criminal extortion which are posted on the California page on my website. You do NOT want "validation" you want DELETION, you can use the follow up letter to CRA after you get back the green card.
