Dear Joe;

Run Sherman Acquisitions through the google, you'll find plenty of information on them including address. They are discussed extensively in postings on this board for among other tricks, precisely the one which you describe in your posting.
If you absolutely have no knowledge of this debt from any original creditor, then send them a Validation and Dispute letter and start a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and your state Attorney General. Might not hurt to file one with the Better Business Bureau either.
This company, as with other low-life cretin collectors, will try any trick that they think will get them some money, and it is of no particular interest to them if you owe the money or not. They would just like for you to hand them some, repeatedly if at all possible.
The more complaints with agencies, the more people such as we smack these termites back whenever they overstep their boundaries by invading our lives with false demands, the better for us and the worse for them.
They've essentially tried to trick you into giving over money, at best, if that which you state is all true. At worst, they are pulling yet another tiresom extortion scam, with you as the mark. They need to be punished, starting with the suggestions humbly offered by this worthless scribe.

In a spirit of worthlessness,

Keyser Soze
