I've run into a bit of a problem. We had digital cable when we were living in Maryland (through Comcast). When we moved back to Michigan, we were told to return the digital unit or we would be charged $450.00. Well, we shipped the digital unit to them via UPS (through Mail Boxes, etc, and got a detailed shipping receipt, outlining items sent and the shipping insurance) about two weeks after we got to the new place - the only catch was that the package was sent in my husband's name (I didn't change my name until after we moved, and he forgot to put my name as the sender instead of his), though we put my account information on and in the box. Now we're receiving letters from a collection agency stating that we didn't return the unit and owe the $450.00. I contacted them and Comcast (the OC), and sent them the documentation, but nobody is doing anything and they're threatening to report it. We got delivery confirmation through UPS tracking, and it shows the date, time, and who signed for it (and Comcast said there is a person working there by that name). I thought that Comcast was going to take care of it, but I haven't heard back anything (they obviously haven't told the CA). I will not pay a bloody cent on this ever, since I have proof that the item was received (not to mention, they're not charging us for the cable modem; sounds kind of fishy to me). I will be sending a cease and desist letter to them, too. Should I file a complaint with the state of Maryland if this continues to be a problem? I'm pretty certain this is the right path to follow, I'm just having a brain fart since we're closing on our new house today........ -A
