The 7 years (CRA's are removing within the 7 years and not bothering with the 180 days) starts from your first delinquency,or late month that preceded the charge-off.

In Tx the SOL starts from your last payment or charge on the account to the OC, so... if you were paying on an account with late fees and past due amounts added on, for several months,your "legal" SOL mght be months later than the "reporting" SOL, however, if you DID not pay or charge after your first "late" month, your "legal" SOL would be 1 month BEFORE the "reporting" SOL.

This ONLY applies in Tx., other States may have diffrent "legal" causes of action dates.
