The problem is your post is very confusing. You owe one amount but gulf state asks for something over and above it and you pay and then capital collects with more owed. How old is this debt like when was it charged off. also, what state are you in. If I was to hazard a guess, and this is just a guess from what is going on, the debt is pretty old and citibank sold it to sherman or gulf stte. My guess is the original balance was from citibank and sherman or gulf settled for a little over 4k because there were interest and fees involved but the debt itself was actually over 6k because it was a few years old. You thought u were settling in full but they lie all the time and just sold it to capital and collected again. Either way, gulf state/sherman cannot negotiate the actual citibank tradeline for deletion. they may have said they could but they lied- period. IF citibank sold the account it should say $0 balance sold or transferred to another lender. If citibank did not it should say settled account $0 balance. You can email me at picantel4343@hotmail.com and give an entire timeline starting from your last missed payment or chargeoff and perhaps I can sort through it all and let you know who to go after in which way and the steps to do. I do not think anyone is responding because they are as confused as I am and are wondering why you are throwing thousands of dollars above and beyond the actual bill just because some scum company told you so.
