This was not credit cards but the purchase of a water softener from Culligan in July of '94. Later that year my daughter had some major medical and I was wiped out. I asked this company for a voluntary repo but they refused to work with me in any way at all. I was seriously deliquent by Jan. '95 and never caught up although I did occasionaly send what I could. I moved to Idaho in Dec. '96. In Aug. '97 it was turned to a collection agency. In Feb of 2000 it was written off by the OC as uncollectable. In 2000 I was dealing with a lot of CAs on the med bills and this bill changed to a Idaho CA. I did send some money but it all went to interest and the principle was actully growing. The med bills worked with me and so I concentrated on them and didn't make any more payments on this. It eventually disapeared from my report but resurfaced last fall Under the name of yet another CA and no mention of who the OC was. I requested a validation and it was removed from my report I heard no more of it. Last week it appeared again on Equifax by yet another CA with the previous CA named as the OC and a notation that it was assigned on 12/02 and a balance of about $1800 It has been reported at least since '95 and I thought when it disapeared it was because the seven years had lapsed. When I called to ask what was up is when all this about the clock starting over when I paid money in 2000 came up. So it went delinquent in Jan '95 while I was in Utah. I came to ID. in Dec. '97. Was not written off til 2000. If '95 was the start date I would have been in ID when Utah SOL lapsed and now I am not sure if I messed up and started this whole thing over by sending some money in 2000. I have worked hard to get my afairs back in order and thanks to you and Linda and others as well have made great strides and dedicated myself to never get in that position again but it seems to never end. This is the only "unpaid" left on my report and one of only a few negatives but while I have not let myself get behind any more I am still not ahead and cannot afford to just pay them. I hate to let this thing haunt me for years to come and fear getting a judgement tacked to my report. Am I just outa luck? I wish I had been aware of this board years ago. Thanks for your patience. Also I never signed any agreement not even the original purchase but my wife did sign that. I guess that probly counts the same. Thanks again
