Hello, thanks for the great service and opportunity to get some feedback about my situation. A couple of years ago I decided to educate myself about my rights regarding my credit. I have had a few success stories but there are a couple loose ends I'd like to tie up.

First my credit score is 606 which isn't bad but I would like it to be over 650 which would get a nice interest rate when I'm ready to buy a home. Anyway....

The heart of the matter.

1. 194.00 to National Education (note don't let your 10 year old rent an instrument then turn it in late) This is just a stupid stupid account. This account has been validated, I have offered a letter to settle with no response. All I was asking is to pay off the amount in return for a "pays as agreed" on the account. The account was assigned in Dec 1999, each March they re-report the account so it doesn't get old and count less against me on my score. So what should I do on this one....just pay the 194.00 and be done with it or send another letter asking them to change something on the credit report?

2. This one came out of the blue and I don't believe I ever owed them anything. In fact if I remember correctly this was a pager that back in 1997 was paid but they screwed up the accounting. I thought I had this taken care of back then....now two months ago I get this letter from Collection Consultants aka Allied Interstate for saying I owed $86.00. OK, I know it's not a lot but it is the principle now. So I sent them a validation letter 30 days to the day but six weeks later I get nothing back but it is being reported to the CRA. I have faxed them a second validation letter to see if they take me seriously. Again, should I just pay the darn 86.00 with an agreement they will take it off the credit report.

3. Last but not least, there is a "revolving line of credit" account being reported as deliquent on my report. This is from the time my son wanted to take Karate lessons but I cancelled the account within the 3 day (right to change your mind clause). However, it is still being reported, I never paid on the account, my son never took the lessons. It was reported November 1999 (note to self, son will never take any lessons he doesn't pay for himself :-)) So how do I deal with this one? My feeling is I don't want to contact these people because then I'll be on their radar again. Thoughts, suggestions?

Finally, these are my last things I have to take care of and I've learned so much in the past two years that I feel very confident about my credit future. And I'm educating my son regarding this now (he's 14) so he won't make the same mistakes I have.

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

Regards,

Buying a House in California :-)
